installation.
Your new metal tiles from The Bronze Bell Tree are very easy to install and maintain. Each tile has been cast by hand in bronze or aluminum and then finished in one of many patinas. Regardless of the finish that is on your tile, the procedures are the same to keep them looking magnificent.
The tile can be installed using exactly the same materials and equipment as you would with any ceramic, stone, slate or travertine tile. An experienced tile contractor should be hired to do the installation in order to get the professional results you demand.
Like most metals, bronze and aluminum will oxidize if left exposed to the air and moisture. Your tiles have been finished with a patina to give them the beautiful look of weathered bronze. They have also been protected with a coating of clear lacquer to seal them from the air and moisture preventing further oxidation. If your tiles have a polished finish, they too have been coated to prevent them from oxidation.
Once installed we only recommend that you periodically give the tiles a light coat of paste wax. Just a light coat every couple of months or more often if they are subjected to water or excessive dirt. Each coat protects the one below it and though over time the wax will wear, by occasionally adding a new coat you will keep those tiles looking as new as they did the day they were installed.
product care.
For cleaning we recommend using a mild, non-toxic, acid-free household cleanser.
Avoid using any abrasive cleansers and pads or strong solvents on metal tile. Mild soap and water are best for obtaining and maintaining a clean surface finish. Once dry, apply a light coat of paste wax and buff to a nice shine.
Now, you also have the option to let time take its course and you may decide not to continue to protect the patina finish. This will result in the erosion of the protective clear lacquer and permit air and moisture to reach the surface of the metal causing the natural process of oxidation to continue. If your tiles have a patina they will get even more patina over time. If they have been polished they will begin to darken over the months and years. Tiles in wet environments or climates will oxidize faster than those in relatively dry areas.
The choice is yours as to how you want your tile to look. A special note to those who have polished tile. If you forget to wax them and they begin to oxidize the simplest way to restore their luster is a quick cleaning with a good quality metal polish like Brasso or Noxon. Once the shine has been restored give them that coat of wax to keep them looking beautiful.
